Moor Park House

Farnham, Surrey

Moor Park House is a Grade II* listed historic estate in Farnham, Surrey. It was purchased as a commercial property and used as offices before being developed into an award winning residential conversion. Planning was gained to sympathetically convert the regency mansion into 3 luxury apartments, the courtyard into 8 mews houses and build 13 new apartments in the existing walled garden. An additional farm dwelling, spa and change of use for the chapel from office to residential was also granted.

The original dilapidated mansion had been converted to offices, although planning permission had already been granted for a residential scheme although in our opinion it damaged the integrity of the listed building. Our application therefore changed the extant 6 duplex apartments approved in the mansion to 3 laterally designed apartments, one on each floor, substantially reducing the harmful impact whilst complimenting the adjacent stable block conversion into mews cottages that would not mix well with commercial use.

Enabling works were agreed to convert the courtyard stables into mews cottages and the walled garden into apartments. These walled garden apartments were fully screened by a surrounding garden wall protecting the integrity of the Grade II* listed site.
